Mourning in America

"The Darkness Around Us...
is Deep"

That is a quote from the American poet, William Stafford. In the poem, he speaks of communication between humans. If, in our broken world, our own personal brokenness, we do not communicate with depth and clarity...and brevity, we are bound to let loose the hounds of hell that ravage individual, community and ultimately, cultural relationships.

That is exactly what has transpired in Washington with the passage of the Frankenstein monster know popularly as the "Health Care Bill". It is blatantly unconstitutional and fully the largest Socialist piece of legislation to pass through both houses of Congress since Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" boondoggle.

It has polarized our country into volatile camps, the likes of which we have not experienced since the Viet Nam war. And, the responsibility for this sits on the shoulders of those who we have elected to protect us from such invasive and suffocating legislation. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barrack Hussein Obama and their subordinates stand at core of this national disaster. They must be held responsible for its passage. And we, the electorate constituency must respond with our voices, our votes and if need be with our very lives.

The existence of the United States as a Constitutional Republic hangs in the balance. The time is short. It is imperative that we stand and speak. We must act decisively.

We must act NOW!

I leave you with this quote from the fine English writer, theologian and Christian apologist, C. S. Lewis:

"Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

  1. I plan to use the word 'busybody' as often as possible, when applicable. Wonderful post, Sven. It's good to know ya!

    Sven,
I read The Jury Box regularly because I appreciate Elk's editorial style and variety of content. Your blog does not interest me in the least. I replied to your comment on The Jury Box because I encountered it there. I read your Stafford post here because you linked to your blog on the aforementioned Jury Box comment. Is that somehow inappropriate? Is that why you failed to address the substance of my remarks?

I am offended by your inappropriate use of a pacifist poet's words and your silly, partisan suggestion that a legal legislative process is in any way a call to revolution. Your side lost the election and their cynical political gamble to obstruct the legislative process. You have to live with the consequences just as the left had to live with W's reign. Much of what you abhor of Obama's eighteen months is, in fact, a direct result of W's policies and negligence, even if FOX News and John Boehner insist otherwise.

It would be fun to see how you justify quoting Stafford now that I've pointed out your not-so-veiled threats of violent revolution. But I imagine you'll just revert to ad hominem attacks, because that's what bullies do.

    Tom

p.s. I'm posting anonymously because I don't have profiles on any of your blog's options for leaving email addresses, unlike The Jury Box and Irish Elk where I leave my yahoo email address. It shouldn't be an issue, though. I don't plan to spend much time here.

  3. Tom,
I have kept politics on the outside here, until now.

Should I be sorry that you are offended...?

    NO!

Tough shit. I am done with being politically correct. If you are "offended'...That is your problem, not mine.

As for the man you call a "moderate" who inhabits the White House. He was raised in Muslim Indonesia, learned his politics under the tutelage of Saul Alinsky, whom he quotes...and one of the most corrupt big city political machines in Chicago and holds himself friends with full blown Marxists: the two '60's radicals, members of the Communist "Weather Underground" ...Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dhorn, who attended the Socialist, racist "church" of Jeremiah Wright, connected with the anti-American Black Muslim, Louis Farrakhan and the ultra-left wing of the Roman church in America, led by people like Fr. Michael Pfleger and Cardinal George.

We will see who stands at the end.

If I meet you again....I will stand hard and close. Maybe Canada would welcome you, certainly I will not.
